PEKANBARU - H Fatullah, a member of the Pekanbaru City Regional People's Representative Council, strongly criticized the performance and services of PT Yabisa Sukses Mandiri (YSM), which were not ideal for managing parking in Pekanbaru.

Fatullah even touched on people's complaints about parking rates that were not commensurate with the service they received.

The policy of increasing official parking rates as stated in the Mayor's Regulation has actually drawn strong protests from the public.

The reason is, the services promised by the parking management have not been realized. Meanwhile, people continue to be charged higher rates.

Now, the parking fee for two-wheeled vehicles is set at IDR 2,000, for four-wheeled vehicles at IDR 3,000, and for six-wheeled vehicles or more remains at IDR 10,000.

PT Yabisa Sukses Mandiri was previously committed to improving services, such as complete parking attendant attributes, official tickets, as well as implementing non-cash payments. However, this promise was seen as just a formality without real action on the ground.

“Parking in Pekanbaru is becoming more problematic. The parking attendant was not there when we parked, but as soon as we wanted to go, they emerged with a whistle. This is quite ridiculous,” said Fatullah, Wednesday (11/12/2024). He also emphasized unfulfilled promises of non-cash services.

“During the previous hearing, they promised to provide excellent service, but in reality it was zero. This makes people fed up,” he said firmly.

Public protests are becoming more common, with many people believing that this policy is unfair to them. Drivers also complained that the increased charges provided no extra value.

“Pay more expensively, but it's still difficult to park. Where's the ticket? Where's the parking attendant? If it continues like this, it's better to just return the old rate,” said Rina, a four-wheeled user.

In response to this requirement, Commission II of the Pekanbaru Regional People's Representative Council will contact PT Yabisa Sukses Mandiri for a hearing right away. One of the requests is to revert the parking costs to their former numbers, which are IDR 1,000 for twowheelers and IDR 2,000 for four-wheelers.

“We will monitor this. If necessary, the Regional People's Representative Council will urge the city government to revoke parking management from PT Yabisa Sukses Mandiri,” added H Fathullah.

Fathullah supported the efforts made by the elected Mayor, Agung Nugroho, who committed to restoring parking rates to the initial value of IDR 1,000 for two-wheelers and IDR 2,000 for fourwheelers.

“Once he is inaugurated, parking rates will be returned to normal. As a Democrat cadre, I will
monitor this issue until PT Yabisa Sukses Mandiri lowers the rates,” said Fathullah.

During a candidate debate some time ago, Agung Nugroho said that changing parking fees will be his first move after serving as Mayor of Pekanbaru.

“This is not just about numbers, but about bringing justice to society and guaranteeing enough services,” he said in the debate.
